WORLD COUNCIL OF COMPARATIVE EDUCATION SOCIETIES (WCCES)

ASSOCIATION OF CUBAN EDUCATORS (APC)

announce

XII WORLD CONGRESS OF COMPARATIVE EDUCATION

Education and Social Justice

 25-29 OCTOBER, 2004, HAVANA, CUBA

The WCCES was founded in 1970 as an international organisation of comparative education societies to advance their field of expertise. Triennial congresses in different countries enable scholars, researchers and administrators to share knowledge and increase understanding of educational issues around the globe. With globalisation, comparative educational studies make an important contribution to policy in ways that respect diversity and stimulate international co-operation in the development of education for all throughout life. As an NGO in Operational Relations with UNESCO, WCCES aims to do this in ways that prepare humankind for the great challenges for of the 21st century.

The APC was founded in 1989. With 14000 members, 80 specialising in comparative education, it is the largest professional association for educators in Cuba. WCCES is honoured to invite the Comparative Education Section of the APC, to host the Xll World Congress, 25-29 October 2004, at the Palace of Conventions in Havana. Spanish, English and French will be the official languages, with simultaneous translation available for parts of the programme.

The motto of the Congress is Sea culto para ser libre[1]. Taken from the writing of the Cuban patriot José Martí, it is a guiding principal of education and society everywhere and has inspired Education and Social Justice as the theme of the XII World Congress.
