A list of relating verbs: Student problems
Students often have problems with the relating verb look. Sometimes look is used with like, especially when it means 'resemble':
People say that I look like my father.
People say that I resemble my father.
However, when look is followed by a describing adjective, it is wrong to use like:
This style looks
likevery good on young people.
This style looks very good on young people.
