Announcement One: 16 June, 2019
Dear Participants of Summer Institute 2019,
Welcome to Hong Kong and welcome to Summer Institute 2019. This year we are lucky to secure rooms on campus. So also welcome to the University of Hong Kong campus.
- You have come to the very warm weather here in Hong Kong. You have also come a warm political weather at Hong Kong, although the real unrest has calmed down a bit, but anyway it will not affect our progress of the programme. You will see a rather quiet campus, because the exams are long over, and many students are abroad on various projects.
- You have seen the progamme on the web. It is rather packed, but we are yet to settle some items. I will explain to you, briefly, tomorrow morning.
- Rather unfortunately, our Mongolian friends could arrive only at none time tomorrow, hence we might have to adjust the programme a little. Will keep you informed all the time.
- Some of you have asked whether or not you have to prepare a country report. There is no expectation of a formal country report. However, (a) you have to be prepared to do a brief (say no more than 3 slides) about your system of higher education and (b) you may have to think of questions about the major reforms in the system, and the major challenges.
