Grammar: Groups and phrases: Adjective group

Structure of the adjective group

Adjective + adjective

One way of expanding the adjective group is to join two or more adjectives together using words such as and, or and but:

The pool water was clean, fresh and sweet.
adjective group

Granny was neither stupid nor slow.
adjective group

Kitty was frightened but brave.
adjective group

When we join together adjectives in this way, it is called an adjective group complex.
