Totally irregular verb forms
There are only two verbs in English that are totally irregular and unpredictable (be and go). However, these are among the most common verbs in English, and students do need to know them well:
base form | present simple | present participle | past simple |
past participle |
be go |
am/is/are go/goes |
being going |
was/were went |
been gone |
