Some riddles

Riddles are a type of word puzzle involving a question and answer sequence, ie one person asks a question and another person has to guess the answer. 

The question often seems illogical or nonsensical, but the answer is usually clever or amusing. Riddles can be used to provide practice in asking 'wh' questions. Here are some riddles for you to try:

Riddle Answer
What is the shortest month?  May, because it only has three letters!
What is the difference between here and there?  The letter t.
What gets bigger when you turn it upside down?  The number 6.
What gets bigger when you take more away?  A hole.
What runs but never walks?  Water.
Who always sleeps with his shoes on?  A horse.
If you had sixteen cows and two goats, what would you have?  A lot of milk.
What doesn't ask questions but must be answered?  A telephone.
What follows a dog everywhere?  Its tail.
What do you serve but never eat ?  A tennis ball.
Why does a bull have horns?  Because its bell doesn't work.
Which is faster  -  heat or cold?  Heat. You can catch a cold.
What must you pay when you go to school?  Attention.
When a lemon asks for help, what does it want?  Lemonade.
Why is a river rich?  Because it has two banks.
What gets wetter as it dries ?  A towel.
What do you get after it's been taken?  Your photograph.
What kind of driver can't drive?  A screwdriver.

Why do elephants have wrinkles? 

Because they are so hard to iron.
