Describing qualities and attributes

The senses

We often describe something in terms of the way we perceive it through our sense of touch, taste, smell, or hearing (as well as sight).

Touch

When we touch something, we react to such things as temperature, texture, etc:

blunt boiling  cold  cool 
damp  dry freezing hard 
hot prickly rough  sharp 
smooth soft warm  wet 

Taste

We often describe food and drink in terms of how they taste:

bitter  bland oily
salty spicy  sweet

Smell

We can describe what we smell by using adjectives such as:

faint mouldy perfumed
pungent strong sweet

Hearing

The sounds we hear can be described as:

loud  noisy  quiet
raucous  silent soft
